This ebook explores next-generation tools to help you streamline laser locking and accelerate your workflow.

Overview

PDH locking helps researchers match the emitting optical frequency of a laser to the resonating frequencies of a Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI), which is an optical resonator that consists of two highly reflective mirrors placed facing each other. In laser frequency stabilization, the PDH technique utilizes a phase-modulated reference beam to detect the frequency of an optical signal and generate an error signal. The laser frequency stabilization system then uses the error signal to provide feedback to the laser and maintain its frequency at a set point.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to set up your laser experiment
  • Modulating the laser
  • Finding a resonance
  • Obtaining an error signal
  • Locking the laser
  • Optimizing the lock
