The ultimate guide to feedback and control loops

Learn more about feedback control in the frequency domain and get helpful tips to design and debug control loops.

A complete test platform

The Moku PID Controller is a complete, closed- loop control system in one device, allowing you to view and record feedback signals using the embedded Oscilloscope and Data Logger instruments.

Low latency feedback

Using Multi-instrument Mode, deploy up to four fully configurable PID Controllers with sub-microsecond latency for precise applications such as laser and phase stabilization.

A compact footprint

With an FPGA-based device, you can control and monitor up to four separate instruments at once, and swap them out in seconds. .

Custom test configurations

Monitor voltage signals originating from outside the Moku, or from any of the other software-defined instruments. Combine Lock-in Amplifiers, Digital Filter Boxes, or Moku Cloud Compile to create a fully contained test bench in a single device.

Visualize your feedback response

Design your control system’s frequency response in real time using the interactive Bode plot, embedded within the Moku PID Controller. Set the proportional (P), integral (I), differential (D), double-integral (I+), integral saturation (IS), and differential saturation (DS) gain profiles, or switch to advanced mode for multi-section response. Engineered for demanding applications. Like yours.

Moku provides a reconfigurable suite of advanced control systems instrumentation in one device. Deployed standalone, in Multi-instrument Mode, or embedded in other instruments like the Laser Lock Box, the PID Controller covers applications such as:

  • Feedback and control systems design
  • Laser frequency stabilization
  • Pressure, force, flow rate, and other controls
  • Scan heads/sample stage positioning
  • Temperature regulation
